How it all started...
The birthplace of New Hope Christian Center was in the former residence of Apostles James and Gloria Smith on June 20, 1985 at 534 Hollow Creek Road. At this historic meeting there were approximately 20 persons in attendance.
After a few short weeks, this home could no longer accommodate the demands of such an anointed and thriving ministry, so without delay, steps were taken and arrangements were made for us to move to the YMCA at 674 Chestnut Street. Because of the phenomenal and continual growth, it was necessary for us to move from the YMCA to Third Street, and from there in 1989 to Maryland Ave., where we purchased our very first building.
This was the foundation of the Lord's establishing New Hope as a permanent beacon in the community. Once again tremendous growth was experienced and once again, the need for a larger facility arose. In May of 1998, our current address, the six (6) acre property at 1713 Jennifer Road was purchased! The Lord blessed the vision in a "greater" way and accordingly renamed the church

Expanding the vision...
In 2009 under the leadership of Apostles James & Gloria Smith, Greater New Hope Christian Center was positioned for increase and moved into our new state-of-the-art 1000 seat sanctuary. Apostles James & Gloria Smith believe in the increase of their church family and invest much of themselves to position the church for increase. They develop their people by providing them with the necessary tools to be all that they can be for both God and Man!
Greater New Hope is continually on the move. In keeping with our Apostolic Prophetic mandate, the Apostles of Greater New Hope Christian Center have ordained many Deacons, Ministers, Pastors, Bishops, Apostles and have mentored many pastors across the nation.

Fulfill The God-Given call ...
It is the passion of Apostles James and Gloria Smith to fulfill their God-Given call to help build Holy Ghost filled, Power Packed Churches that ministers to the needs of the “total man” as shown by their example. Realizing the difficult times in which we live, the Smiths are diligently preparing God’s anointed leaders to meet the challenging tasks for today. Because the spiritual needs of society are so great, these Apostles will not rest on their laurels of past successes. Instead they are tirelessly soaring ahead until all of God’s purposes for Greater New Hope Christian Center are accomplished, and have been manifested.

Greater New Hope Christian Center is a full service ministry endeavoring to minister to the total man with the Mighty Men for Christ Men’s Ministry, the Kingdom Daughters Women’s Ministry, the CHOSEN Children’s & Youth Ministry, the G.R.A.C.E. (Gracefully Ruling and Conquering Everything) Young Adults Ministry, Marriage Enrichment Ministry, S.W.A.G. (Single Whole And Godly) Singles Ministry and Empowerment Classes for all areas of life.
Greater New Hope Christian Center is always endeavoring to reach higher heights and deeper depths in Christ. Future endeavors include an even greater expansion in several areas of the ministry. They have a heart for the homeless, those coming out of prison needing someone to give them an opportunity at a new start in life, for single mothers and for single fathers, for those with entrepreneurship ability and so much more. Theirs is a vision for the total man to be recreated in Christ! This is why they have been positioned for increase for such a time as this, to EMPOWER the people of God, as we receive God’s Grace to Soar to New Heights!

We emphatically proclaim our thanks and adoration to God, the author and sustainer of this great work. Thank you for teaching us how to be more than conquerors. Our motto is the scripture in Romans 8:37 "...We are more than Conquerors..." and our faith is anchored in the Lord and the message of the Cross as we relentlessly pursue His vision in and for this ministry! Praise the Lord!
